Road access to Hokitika is spectacular from all directions. Highways run through National Park, Scenic Reserve and World Heritage mountains, coastlines and gorges.
Far from being isolated, recent improvements to SH6 make Hokitika an ideal and scenic place to visit, even for a weekend or day trip. Savour the drive or relax and enjoy the scenery with coach and shuttle services that operate daily to Hokitika from Christchurch, Nelson, Picton and the Glaciers.
Most days there are five flights from Christchurch to Hokitika, picking up international and national connections. The TransAlpine rail journey from Christchurch, with a bus connection at Greymouth for the last leg to Hokitika, is one of the best train rides in the world.

Hokitika Airport
Hokitika Airport is the Aviation Gateway to Westland and is the West Coast's only Air New Zealand Link service to Christchurch International Airport. There are up to five daily return flights to Christchurch using the Beech 1900D 19 seater aircraft and the 50 seater Dash 8 Q300.
