See & Do

Hokitika Town Centre

Unlike other West Coast towns Hokitika has embraced its beach - to be honest it’s hard to ignore, the ocean practically laps the main street.

Hokitika Town Centre

  • We are on the beach! By day you can walk along admiring its driftwood strewn beauty, with awesome views of New Zealand’s highest mountain, Aoraki / Mt Cook.
  • Scour the sand for pounamu (NZ jade), washed down from nearby rivers.
  • Enjoy a picnic as you watch the sun sink into the Tasman Sea.
  • Wander round town and watch the artists at work in their studios.
  • The food isn’t too shabby either, we have great coffee and whitebait on offer at most cafes and restaurants.
  • Hokitika is a full service town and one of the last to offer key retail opportunities before heading south. For example the next large supermarket is in Wanaka!

Browse the listings below to see what is in the Hokitika town centre.
