The Westland i-Site Visitor Information Centre is located in the Carnegie Building and is a first destination for visitors to the Hokitika area. Open 7 days, it provides information & free bookings for local attractions, walks, events, activities, accommodation, eating places, shopping & onwards travel.

The Department of Conservation office in Sewell St (open 5 days) also provides information on huts, tracks & conservation lands.

24 hour information can be found in the Rotary information kiosk at the northern entry to town & here.

More information on things to do in the Hokitika area is provided in all the main international New Zealand guidebooks, two West Coast walking guides, as well as in specialist climbing, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking, and other recreation guidebooks.

Hokitika Airport

Hokitika airport is the West Coast’s only domestic airport with Air New Zealand link operating scheduled daily flights from Christchurch International Airport to Hokitika and return up to 5 times a day. Scenic 25 minute flight. Check out the Air New Zealand ‘Grab a seat” specials.

Westland District Library

Opening hours: Monday – Friday 9.00am – 6.00pm, Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm, Closed on Public Holidays. Visit our new library, opened in July 2009, and rest those travelling feet for a while.. Internet facilities and wireless connection available.
